I hope that there will never be a day where our grandkids can't go outside and play, for the air is too polluted for them to breathe. Now, when I say our, I don't mean mine and whoever's. I mean our generation's, everyone's grandkids; And not just them, even their grandchildren, and their grandchildren, and their grandchildren, and so on until the sun engulfs the earth (which is projected to happen about 200 000 years from now if you were wondering).
Already, I see gray upon the the horizon on a clear day. A cloud of pollution hangs over our city, but we don't even have it half as bad as some places, say LA, or certain parts of China. I'd be more specific but I'm not too sure about my Chinese geography, Either way you get my point. The problem is REAL.
I don't want humanity to succumb to the results of it's own pollution. Even if we don't get off earth before some other unstoppable force destroys it, at least we will have had a good run. We will have enjoyed our beautiful planet to the fullest potential, and not just us, every human to live after us. This place is far too important for us to ruin it, and I sincerely hope that we can clean up our act.
oh my god! the that paragraph actually sounds... hopeful!
ReplyDeleteit is sad but i do not think that humanity will change its ways, at least not enough to make a difference. our grandkids will need to adapt or die. you say that atleast we had a good run... but did we really? people today are driven by superficial needs and powered by greed. they no longer take the time to enjoy the little things. i can honestly say that i have not seen the sunrise since i was a young child, and i never stop and watch the sunset. so yes, it is our fault that the earth will be 'engulfed by the sun' and i do not see people changing their ways anytime soon... :(
Shenelle, it is adapt or die, but who says the movement can't start in our lifetime? Why should our grandchildren suffer because of our mistakes? The seeds of change were planted a long time ago, and our generation might just be the ones to start the movement towards a brighter tomorrow. Even if we don't fix the world's problems, we can at least get started on making the future a better place, and hopefully those who come after us will continue, and one day finish what we have started.
ReplyDeleteeverything your saying i agree with. the problem is that i do not think that it will realistically happen. in order to ignite change the world would have to come together in order to solve this problem. people are willing to accept that change needs to happen but no one is willing to take the steps needed to implement change. my fear is that if people do eventually wake up to the fact that we are killing our own planet, it will be too late. :(
ReplyDeleteguys...it is changing. it will happen. be hopeful...i believe!
